    Product generation/validation through configuration

A product configurator, virtually, is able to build new product at every mouse click and this could be not handled easily on an integrated ERP system.

The communication patterns between the two systems are mainly two:

    • configurator generate product and communicate it directly to the external system. External system will be in charge to manage item creation/modification on demand. In this case configurator is master data.

    • configurator generate product and submit it for a validation on the external system (example check if the product exist). If the external system don’t validate the code submitted, the configuration is marked as invalid therefor must to be changed, or in the case of configuration accepted, the system will proceed with the standard order line creation flow. An extension of this flow could be that, in case of invalid configuration, configurator will keep the configuration in a sort of limbo until the item code creation flow, requested at validation time, is completed or rejected. In this case external system is master data.
